I am an Irish artist from Dublin who paints mostly landscapes and street scenes.
The bicycle has got me to almost every corner of Ireland, and I’ve used it to paint on location en plein air and to collect sketch and photo references to work on back home in Dublin. It’s rare I go anywhere without a sketchbook.
I work predominantly in acrylics and sometimes in mixed media. Intoxicated by shape I constantly try to capture those shapes that make up our world. In Ireland’s grey days I see colour in tiny details, more so when it rains. And in our sunny days our towns and countryside sing.
Having traveled extensively internationally – including solo cycle trips across America and across Europe to Istanbul, plus walking and cycling adventures in Asia – I have a head full of images I’d love to paint. Sometimes paintings from such distant travels surface, but more often I’ll be painting birds on the wires in front of my home, or trees down the lane in the local park. And with Dublin city centre just a few kilometres away, and the rest of the country a train, or bus, or cycle away, I’m never short of inspiration.
I have exhibited in Ireland and in America, and paintings have sold to people in dozens of countries worldwide.
