It was very windy as I sat on a traffic control box and said yes, I will yes, I will do a picture of this ridiculous roundabout. Because of the wind I used watercolour markers in six shades of grey and various ink pens as well as my brush pen. As in if I’m holding them they won’t blow away, unlike all my paints. And as I finished I took a little yellow paint out – holding very tight – for those two signs and the dots of some flowers.
Anyway, the hours I was there was one of the most amazing experiences I’ve had drawing and painting pictures on location. Because of the symphony of car horns, and the general buzz around the roundabout. Also the nice people in the kiosk behind me were selling tea. Good times.
I suppose being honest I can’t imagine anybody on the planet is so attached to the Wakinstown Roundabout as to want to actually own a picture of it. Anybody but me that is, but if you’d like to buy this picture just shout that you would before all those other people do and I’ll then contact you to make arrangements – payment will be by bank transfer or cash probably. Meanwhile if it’s still available you could help me by telling people who like traffic features, you know those people, or people who like black and white pictures (and yellow) of Dublin suburbs. Over to you. [Update: SOLD]
