In the forgotten summer of 2020 I went into town on my bike one day, just to be in town. It was a gorgeous evening and I gently let the bicycle take me to outside many of my favourite places where I would stand outside and wonder how the woodwork was getting on. I stood on South Great George’s Street and looked across the road for ages at the Long Hall. Why haven’t I painted that, I asked my bicycle. My bike shrugged. We must fix that, I replied. So here it is.

And now I just want to go for a pint. Incidentally, I don’t think this is the best photo of this painting as I only took the photo this morning in the wind and with my phone. Not a day for the tripod. But basically, I think the painting looks better than the photo of the painting.
