It’s the first painting of Night 2. We’ve been over this – I love the quays. Being from the west of the city in a community on the south banks of the Liffey always meant our route into town follows the river. Whether by bus, cycling, or walking. Sometimes I’ve even been in a car. So town for me starts where Parkgate street waves at Heuston and introduces us to Wolfe Tone Quay. Going in and out of town we get to go along both the north quays and the south quays.
Ormond Quay is probably the quay I have painted the most, though Arran Quay runs it a close second. I can’t even tell you why. The shapes probably. It all comes down to the collection of shapes that buildings from different times make. And sometimes the combination for a segment of any one quay is just magic. Sin É, I can hear you say. And you’re not wrong.
If you’d like to buy this painting contact me to make arrangements – payment by bank transfer or cash. And this is the bit where I tell you I’m very appreciative of likes and shares and all kinds of communication about my work even if, maybe especially if, it’s not exactly your cup of tea. Maybe tea isn’t even your cup of tea? What a time to be alive.
