Howth. What can we say about Howth. Obviously you have to ignore the vast crowds that flock there on weekends during the summer. But Howth. The walks are fantastic. The company is always great. Because you always go to Howth with people you love. And there’s chips. While I started this painting a couple of years ago I was in Howth again a couple of months back and once again walked on the west pier, and stared at where the east pier meets Balscadden Road, and I waked up Abbey Street and I drank pints of stout. And I even had chips. Before getting on the Dart and thinking again about how to finish this painting.
One of my all-time favourite memories of Howth was when I walking with someone wonderful once, coming down from the summit and back on the road when a car pulled up to ask me for directions. Excuse me, they said. Then they looked at me and instead of asking for directions they said to me, “You don’t know where you’re going”, before driving off. You have to think of these things when you paint places.
If you’d like to buy this painting message me or post a comment saying so before anyone else does, and whoever shouts at me first I will then privately make arrangements for payment with (Likely by bank transfer or cash). If you like Howth but this angle or rendition, or because of how life is this painting is just not for you, I wouldn’t mind if you told other Howth likers that the painting is online and available.
And a reminder that If you’re puzzled by how the sale is working and why I’m talking like a basket case, check out my blog post for details.
