Landscape format. View along a small road on the right, with grass down its middle. It bends past 2 derelict buildings on the left with the gables facing the viewer just past a lot of overgrown tall grasses and weeds of greens and yellows and browns. Near gable has flat stones like slate making up its gable and from its roof is growing orange-cream brush. The other building is inset further back and we see a sliver of a red roof, and chimney with a red-ish plant growing alongside it. Sky is very dark purple and blue except for bright horizon. Poles are covered in ivy.

Clare Road (County Clare)

New Painting no 6
Update: SOLD

“Clare Road” (County Clare)

On canvas, 30 cm x 24 cm (12 in x 9.5 in)

Price €260 (+ €13 Registered post to Ireland; €20 Express Post to rest of world)

I say Clare Road but we all know it could be anywhere. Except it wasn’t.

High above the Shannon Estuary I was cycling on a road populated by wildflowers and not a whole lot else. I had come off the Tarbert ferry so my day was already full of excitement when I came upon these buildings. Oh how I love a red corrugated roof. And a bit of stone. I stopped of course. I mean what else could you do. Then ahead on the road just past the derelict buildings was a little dog. There wasn’t a house – not one you could live in – anywhere near here. But the dog encouraged me on up the hill and then disappeared like any ghost dog would, and I said farewell to those ruins and cycled on to Ennis.

If you’d like to buy this painting just shout that you would before anyone else and I’ll then contact you to make arrangements – payment by bank transfer or cash probably. Meanwhile if it’s still available you could help me by telling people who like this sort of thing. They’d be good people.
