The Latin alphabet is not the most exciting to look at, and not simply because of familiarlty. Many eastern alphabets are much more visual, and arabic is sumptuous. For seveal years I had tried to paint forms that gave me the visual stisfaction that words written down do. It culminated in this painting.
Letting the ink bleed through means the earliest marks are not mere memories.
